Johnson Welcomes Class of 2021

The Boston College women's basketball team received three commitments for the 2021 class, announced head coach Erik Johnson. BC is excited to welcome guards Sydney Lowery from Shelton, Connecticut; Grace Marko from Boca Raton, Florida and Milan Bolden-Morris from Loxahatchee, Florida.
"With the graduation of two perimeter shooters in Kelly Hughes and Emilee Daley and perimeter defender Kailey Edwards, this class fits our needs perfectly with three young women who will raise the level of our program for years to come,'' said BC head coach Erik Johnson. "This class gives us three strong, physical guards with great skills who will improve our team immediately.
"All three have great personalities, are excellent students, and are high-character young women who will be great additions to our team culture and that of Boston College.''
Sydney Lowery – 5-foot-10 - Guard – St. Luke's School – Shelton, Conn.
Plays at St. Luke's School in New Canaan, Conn. … Two-time team captain … led the team to the 2016 Fairchester Athletics Association Tournament Title, the first for the school since 2007-08 season … The team went 20-2 in 2015-16 … Lost in the final of the 2014-15 FAA Tournament but scored a team-high 20 points in the championship game … Four-time FAA All-Star … Scored her 1,000 point as a sophomore and is the all-time leader in points scored with over 1,800 points … Team MVP … Played for the New York Gouchos.
"Sydney Lowery has great ball-handling and passing skills. She also has the physical strength and explosiveness to break down defenders to make plays for herself and her teammates on both ends of the court," said Johnson of Lowery's talents.
Grace Marko – 6-foot-0 – Guard – Boca Raton Community – Boca Raton, Florida
Plays for Nhu Nguyen at Boca Raton Community High School … Averaged 13.1 points, 3.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds a game as a junior … The team went 26-6 in 2015-16 … Scored her 1,000 point as a junior … Helped the Bobcats advance to the State Class 8A Championship Final as a junior and the Final Four as a sophomore … All-County first team as a junior and freshman … Earned All-County second team honors as a sophomore ... Plays for the Tampa Thunder and was the MVP of REDS 64 Event … Also plays golf and was a member of the 2015 team which placed second at the regional.
"Grace Marko is a great shooter who also has the size and athleticism to make plays at the rim and is excellent in the transition game,'' remarked Johnson on the Florida native.
Milan Bolden-Morris - 5-foot-10 – Guard - Cardinal Newman – Loxahatchee, Florida
Plays for coach Dennis Miles at Cardinal Newman in West Palm Beach, Florida … Sun Sentinel All-Palm Beach 6A Player of the Year ... Three-time Fab Five Player … Four-time All-County honoree and named All-State second team as a junior … Is the all-time leading scorer at Cardinal Newman with 2,025 points … Averaged 22.3 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.8 steals as a senior ... Set a new school record by hitting 81 three's in a single season ... Holds the Cardinal Newman record for most career three's at 258 ... Averaged 16.8 points, eight rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a junior … Averaged 17.1 points,6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as a sophomore … Also plays softball and earned All-State honorable mention honors as a junior … National Honor Society President.
"Milan Bolden-Morris is one of the best three-point shooters in the nation who also has the toughness to defend and rebound in the ACC,'' said Johnson of Bolden-Morris.
The team will open up the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11 at Hartford. The Eagles will then host Boston University in the home opener on Monday, Nov. 14 (7 p.m.). Tickets for the home opener are available online.
