Records Broken at the Terrier Invitational

The Eagles had a powerful showing of competition at the Terrier Invitational this weekend.
This weekend marked the halfway point in the season for the swim and dive teams. Boston University hosted the annual Terrier Invitational with Boston College, West Point, University of Vermont, UMass, University of Bridgeport, University of New Hampshire, and Fairfield University in the field.
The Eagles had outstanding performances across the board with several meet and school records broken for both teams. The men's team finished in second place out of six teams, while the women placed fifth out of eight teams.Â

- Senior Anthony Richardson walked away this weekend with three new BC records under his belt. He took fourth in the 500 yd. freestyle with a time of 4:28.94, and fifth in the 1,650 yd freestyle with a time of 15:48.20. He also set a new record in the 1,000 yd. freestyle with his split time of 9:32 in that event.Â
- Erika Freeman came in fifth and was a top finisher in the 200 yd. IM with a time of 2:05.70 and also set a new BC record in the 200 yd. freestyle (1:51.02) with a fourth place finish. Freeman was also a key contributor in the 800 yd. freestyle, 400 yd. freestyle, 200 yd. freestyle and 400 yd. medley relays.Â
- Taylor Cortens set a BU pool record and a BC record in the 200 yd. IM where he took first place with a time of 1:47.15. Cortens also set a BC record in the the 400 yd. IM where he took second (1:53.79), He was also first in the 200 yd. backstroke with a time of 1:47.22.Â
- Conor Chamness, Colin Derdeyn, John Mooers and David Howard took first in the 200 yd. freestyle relay (1:22.70) while Anthony Richardson, Nicolas Junghahn, McKenzie Cole and Fernando Saenz del Villar came in fifth (1:23.58).Â
- Colin Derdeyn took first place in the 50 yd. freestyle (20.74) while Conor Chamness  placed fifth (20.98).
- The women had five finishers in the top 10 in the 100 yd. butterfly - Victoria Lin placed second place (56.17), followed by Sarah Hanning in fifth (57.22), Hope Dragelin in seventh (58.28), Caroline Even in ninth (57.55) and Emily Smith in tenth (57.79).Â
- Grace Kunkel placed eleventh in the 50 yd. freestyle (23.98).Â
- Gabriella Taghian '19 was the top finisher for BC Diving in the 3 m. and placed eighth overall with a score of 208.85.Â
- Cole Malatesta '17 took first in the 1 m. with a score of 311.35 and in the 3 m. with a score of 340.50. Robert McCrory '19 took seventh with a score of 225.85 and in the 3 m. with a score of 227.30.Â
- The Eagles have six regular season meets left until the ACC Championships. After the Thanksgiving break, the Eagles will compete in their last meet of the fall semester against Williams on Saturday, December 3rd.
