EAGLES IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
- This marks Boston College's 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and its program-record fourth straight
- Six of the team's NCAA Tournament selections have come since joining the ACC in 2005
- BC is 3-11 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including three Elite Eight appearances (1994, 1998, 2015)
FAMILIAR SURROUNDINGS IN SYRACUSE
- Boston College will be making its second trip to Syracuse this season after facing the Orange in the team's first ACC game of the 2016 season on Sept. 9 and playing then-No. 14 Stanford in a neutral-site game the next day
- This will be the Eagles' third NCAA appearance in Syracuse overall and the third in the last four years, having also traveled to Central New York in 2013 and 2014
- BC is 4-13 all-time at Syracuse, including both away games against the Orange and neutral-site contests against other teams
- In the postseason, the Eagles are 1-5 in Syracuse, with the lone win coming in the 2004 BIG EAST semifinals
UCONN & BOSTON COLLEGE POSTSEASON HISTORY
- Boston College and UConn have a long postseason history dating back to the teams' days in the BIG EAST
- Overall, Saturday will mark the teams' 10th postseason meeting ... BC is 3-6 against UConn in the postseason
- This will be the teams' fifth meeting in the NCAA Tournament (1998 Elite Eight, 2005 First Round, 2013 First Round, 2015 Elite Eight)... the Eagles are 0-4 against the Huskies in NCAA Tournament meetings
- The programs met five times in the BIG EAST Tournament (1994 semifinals, 1997 championship, 1998 championship, 2003 championship, 2004 championship) ... BC was 3-2 against UConn in BIG EAST Tournament contests
SENIOR CLASS' LEGACY
- This year's senior class is the first in program history to advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of its four seasons at The Heights (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016)
- Previously, a class' best run was three straight years two different times (2003-05 and 2013-15)
McCOYS TO SET BC'S TOURNAMENT RECORD
- Barring any late changes to Saturday's lineup, Emily and Eryn McCoy will set the Eagles' career record for NCAA Tournament games with at least five
- Currently the McCoy twins are tied with five other players from the Class of '15Â for most career NCAA Tournament appearances: Kelcie Hromisin, Jacqueline Kelleher, AshLeigh Sebia, Leah Settipane and Romee Stiekema
ALL-ACC HONORS ALL AROUND
- Ahead of last week's ACC Championship, the conference released its annual All-ACC Teams, which included a record-setting haul for BC
- A program-record four Eagles drew All-ACC honors, besting the team's previous single-season mark of three All-ACC honors in 2014
- Sophomore midfielder Ymke Rose Gote, senior goalkeeper Audra Hampsch, sophomore back Frederique Haverhals and senior midfielder Emily McCoy all earned All-ACC Second Team honors
- It was the second All-ACC honor for McCoy, and the first each for Gote, Hampsch and Haverhals
MANY MILESTONES IN ACC PLAY THIS YEAR
- Boston College met and established new bests in ACC field hockey play this year
- In the regular season, BC matched its best-ever finish in the nation's toughest field hockey conference, going 3-3 ... the Eagles also posted a 3-3 mark in 2014
- BC has earned two wins in ACC play three different seasons: 2006, 2010, 2012
- Additionally, the Eagles gained the No. 3 seed in the ACC Championship, the team's highest-ever seed in the conference's annual tournament
- Further, four Eagles earned All-ACC honors - the most ever by the team in its ACC history, beating the previous mark of three in 2014
