Pair Advances to Quarterfinals at ITA Regional

Dair and Borr reach the final eight at the annual regional championship
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two Boston College women's tennis players advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northeast Regional hosted by Yale this weekend. Full Singles Results | Full Doubles Results
Junior Asiya Dair entered the tournament as the event's No. 1 overall seed, and senior Lexi Borr earned a spot in the Nos. 5-8 seed pack. Both players reached the round of eight before falling in straight sets in their quarterfinal match-ups.
Dair lost to the eventul champion, Syracuse's Valerie Salazar, 6-3, 6-1. Salazar entered the tournament seeded in the Nos. 5-8 seed bank. Borr dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to the event's eventual runner-up, No. 3 seed Jessica Livianu from St. John's (NY).
Freshmen Kylie Wilcox and Dasha Possokhova advanced to the Round of 32 in the tournament.
Wilcox drew a seed in the Nos. 17-32 band and, after a first-round bye, defeated St. John's Stepanie Elgegren in three sets in the Round of 64 before falling to Yale's Madison Battaglia, who was seeded in the Nos. 9-16 group.
Possokhova won her first two matches in the Rounds of 128 and 64, including a straight-set win over Dartmouth's Chuyang Guan, who was seeded in the Nos. 17-32 band. She dropped her Round of 32 match to Yale's Sherry Li in straight sets. Senior Emily Safron and freshman Elene Tsokilauri both advanced to the Round of 64.
In doubles action, Borr and Possohova advanced to the Round of 16 after drawing a seed in the Nos. 5-8 range. They topped duos from Penn and Drexel before falling to Harvard's tandem of June Lee and Erica Oosterhout, 8-6.
