Casella Excels at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Boston College women's tennis team wrapped up its fall tournament season at the Brown Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Eagles teamed with regional rival Yale in Friday's dual against Arkansas before facing Utah on Saturday. Freshman Micayla Casella was the lone Eagle to win both of her singles matches this weekend.

On Friday, the split team of BC/Yale defeated Arkansas, 5-2, fueled by three Boston College freshman singles wins after Arkansas swept doubles for the doubles point. Kylie Wilcox, Elene Tsokilauri and Casella all won with Casella pulling her match out in a third-set tiebreaker.

On Saturday, BC took the 4-3 win against Utah with all four match wins coming in singles. The Eagles' ranked duo of Asiya Dair (No. 53 nationally) and Lexi Borr (No. 109 nationally) returned to the court after sitting out Friday's matches. Dair claimed a straight-set win in her match, while Dasha Possokhova, Emily Safron and Casella also claimed straight-set victories.

With the fall season closed, the Eagles will return to the courts and kick off the spring dual-meet season on Saturday, Jan. 21, when the team travels to face Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
