HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
The Tarheels won the first eight points of the match, extending their lead to 12-1, forcing the Eagles to call timeout. BC got going by using a 5-0 run to make it 12-6, which caused the Tarheels to call a timeout of their own. The Maroon and Gold fought back, taking a 19-18 lead after kills from Strockis and Calvete, but North Carolina took the last seven points of the set to win 25-19.
Set 2
A 5-0 run from the Tarheels early gave them a 9-2 lead. Going on to win eight out of the next ten points gave North Carolina a 17-4 lead and they never looked back, taking the set 25-10.
Set 3
The set started out even, but the turning point was a 9-2 Tarheel run that gave them a 17-7 lead and forced a BC timeout. The Eagles grabbed a few points back, but never threatened, as North Carolina cruised to a 25-14 victory.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will make the short trip from Chapel Hill to Raleigh on Sunday to take on the NC State Wolfpack at 2 p.m
