October 15, 2016 | Women's Hockey
The Black Bears net the game-winner with 37 seconds left in the game.
AUBURN, Maine – Maine scored the game-winning goal with 37 seconds left in the game to take a 3-2 win over No. 5 Boston College women's hockey team on Saturday night at the Norway Savings Bank Arena.
The Eagles' loss snapped the team's 52-game undefeated streak in Hockey East play that dated back to February 2014, and its 27-game winning streak in league play that dated back to October 2015.
BC took a 1-0 lead early in the second period from Caitrin Lonergan's power-play goal, but saw Maine tie it up midway through the stanza. The teams came out knotted up at 1-1 for the third, but the Black Bears took their first lead 4:03 into the period. Toni Ann Miano tied it up with 5:19 left to play, but seven seconds after the Eagles came off their third successful penalty kill of the night, Maine scored with 37 second left to claim the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
QUOTABLES
Head coach Katie Crowley
"I thought it was a hard-fought game and that Maine really came out at us in that third period and capitalized on their scoring opportunities more than we did. It sounds really simple, but I thought we had scoring opportunities that we didn't capitalize on and they capitalized on the couple they had. I give them credit. They played hard. I still think our team is a little young and we need to realize how hard we need to go for three full periods."
