The Eagles (3-3, 0-3 ACC) will be coming off a bye week before the tilt with the Orange (2-4, 0-2 ACC). Syracuse hosts No. 25 Virginia Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday in the Carrier Dome.
Â
This will be the 50th meeting between the two old rivals in a matchup that dates back to 1924. The Eagles hold a 13-10 advantage in the friendly confides of Alumni Stadium.
Â
This will be the fourth meeting with both teams as members of the ACC as SU joined in 2013. Each team has won at home with SU taking the contests in 2013 and 2015 in New York and BC winning, 28-7, in 2014 in Chestnut Hill.
The Orrie T. Scarminach Memorial Award is presented to the most valuable player in the matchup. From 1982 to 2004, it was given every year and beginning in 2010, it has been awarded to a BC player when the Eagles host the contest. Scarminach was a former BC football player from Syracuse who was killed in an automobile accident in 1982.
Â
Not only will the university be celebrating Homecoming at The Heights, former BC linebacker Luke Kuechly, the most decorated defensive player in school history, will have his jersey retired at halftime.
