Freshmen Net Pair in Game 2 at Minnesota Duluth
October 01, 2016 | Women's Hockey
Caitrin Lonergan and Delaney Belinskas both net goals in the Eagles’ 5-2 loss at Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. – Minnesota Duluth's four-goal second period put the No. 3 Boston College women's hockey team in too deep of a hole to recover as the Eagles fell, 5-2, to the Bulldogs in the second game of the teams' two-game set on Saturday afternoon.
Duluth (1-0-1) took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, but came out with four goals in the second stanza to extend a five-goal edge. Boston College (0-1-1) chipped away at the lead late with a pair of power-play goals by freshmen Caitrin Lonergan and Delaney Belinskas to pull the final margin to three goals.

Head coach Katie Crowley
"(Minnesota Duluth) played hard and they played well. And they caught us at the right time. Things would start going our way and then they'd put one in and shut us down a little bit – in both games, really. Overall, I think it's a good weekend for us to learn and go through things and help us pick up at the beginning of the year.'
"They played hard last night and battled back and they used that momentum to put a couple in on us early … I thought we started playing better in the second, but then our captain gets hurt, our goaltender gets hurt, we have people in the box, people not playing and it got be where everyone on our bench played and I got to see some really good things from our freshmen. It's the first two games so they hadn't seen much action. I thought in the last 10 minutes we started going really well."
