Eagles’ forward tabbed co-player of the week after four-goal outburst in BU win
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College senior forward Haley Skarupa earned Hockey East's Warrior Co-Player of the Week award for Monday, sharing the award with Northeastern's Kendall Coyne.
In BC's lone game last week, Skarupa tallied all four of the Eagles' goals in the team's 4-3 win over cross-town rival Boston University on Saturday. The four-goal outburst was the first of Skarupa's career.
Skarupa's four goals in the game also pushed her into a tie for third place (with Kelli Stack '11) on the BC career goals chart with 98 goals. With 208 career points, Skarupa is also just one point back of Stack (209 points) in second place on the BC career scoring chart.
Nationally, Skarupa's 18 goals rank sixth, while her 25 assists are second-most in the country. Overall, her 43 points rank fifth in the country and her 2.05 points per game are tied for fifth.
In Hockey East, Skarupa's 28 points in conference play – from 16 goals and 12 assists – are tied for the league lead.
This is Skarupa's sixth career Hockey East player of the week nod, and her second of the season.
The No. 1 Eagles (21-0-0, 14-0-0 HEA) return to action this weekend when they play a home-and-home series with new league entrant Merrimack. BC will travel to North Andover, Mass., for a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Jan. 15, before playing the return game at Kelley Rink at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16.
