White Claims Third HEA Rookie of the Week Award

In his first game back from the World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland, Colin White scored the Eagles' first hat trick of the season and added an assist for his second four-point performance of the season
WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Colin White picked up his third Hockey East Rookie of the Week award on Monday afternoon after a sterling performance in his return trip back from Finland on Friday evening.
White scored the Eagles' first hat trick of the season and added an assist for his second four-point performance on the year to help BC to a 7-3 win over No. 3 Providence at Kelley Rink. The Hanover, Mass., native had returned to the team only a few days prior after claiming a bronze medal at the World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland.
As of Jan. 11, White is ranked the seventh-most prolific scorer in all of college hockey with 1.50 points per game, second amongst all freshmen behind Michigan's Kyle Connor (1.63 ppg). White has tallied the 20th most goals in the NCAA (0.61 gpg), third amongst all first year skaters, and is 10th with 0.89 assists per game.
He was also tabbed Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Oct. 19, 2015 and Nov. 30, 2015 in addition to Hockey East Rookie of the Month (November) honors after averaging 2.43 points per game over that four-week stretch.
White has scored at least one point in 13-0f-18 games played while seven of those performances have been multi-point showings.
White joins Hockey East Player of the Week Matt Grzelcy (BU) and HEA Defensive Co-Players of the Week Kevin Boyle (Lowell) & Packy Munson, (Vermont).
The Battle of Comm Ave. commences on Friday night at Kelley Rink with a 6 p.m. puck drop. The game will be produced by American Sports Network and broadcast on NESN Plus.
