Eagles ranked second behind defending national champion Minnesota by USCHO
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's hockey team will start the season ranked No. 2 in the country, according to the USCHO.com 2015-16 Preseason Women's Poll released today.
The Eagles picked up 128 points to finished second behind defending national champion Minnesota, who claimed all 15 first-place votes for 150 points. Wisconsin (124 points), Harvard (101 points) and Clarkson (84 points) round out the top five.
North Dakota (64), Quinnipiac (56), Boston University (49), Bemidji State (25) and Cornell (18) complete the top 10.
The Eagles will face three teams in the top 10 – Harvard, BU and Cornell – this season, while three other opponents (Northeastern, Minnesota-Duluth and St. Lawrence) all received votes in this poll.
This is the second time in the last three years the Eagles head into the season ranked No. 2, as BC was ranked second – behind Minnesota – in 2013-14. BC has drawn a preseason ranking within the USCHO top five ahead of the last five seasons.
Earlier today, Hockey East announced the Eagles were picked to win the league title again in its preseason coaches poll. | READ MORE
