Carpenter Up for Two Globie Awards

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Alex Carpenter, the nation's reigning women's hockey national player of the year, is up for a pair of awards at The Globies, a first-of-its-kind sports awards celebration to honor the best in New England sports. The inaugural Globies will be held Tuesday, October 6, at House of Blues Boston.
Carpenter is nominated for Best Female Athlete and Top College Athlete. She is the only nominee from Boston College.
Other nominees for Best Female Athlete include runner Molly Huddle, Boston Marathon wheelchair division winner Tatyana McFadden, Boston Breakers goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and Boston Militia player Whitney Zelee.
The other three nominees for Top College Athlete include former Boston University hockey player Jack Eichel, Tufts softball player Allyson Fournier and Harvard hockey player Jimmy Vesey.
