CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Three former Boston College men’s basketball standouts made major moves in the NBA this offseason.
Olivier Hanlan was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft. Hanlan was the ninth Boston College player to be drafted since 1989, the first year of the current two-round format. He was the third second-round pick in that time and the fifth second-round selection all-time. Hanlan made his Utah debut on July 6 in the first summer league game of the season.
Reggie Jackson signed a five-year, $80 million contract on July 6 with the Detroit Pistons. Jackson spent three and a half seasons with Oklahoma City after being drafted 24th overall in 2011. He was traded to the Pistons in February and averaged 17.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game for them. Jackson started all 27 games he appeared in for Detroit.
The Milwaukee Bucks traded Jared Dudley to the Washington Wizards on July 2. In nine NBA seasons, Dudley has averaged 8.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists with four different teams. In his lone season in Milwaukee, he averaged 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 72 games. Dudley was drafted 22nd overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in 2007. He spent nearly two seasons in Charlotte before being traded to Phoenix where he played for four-plus seasons. He spent the 2013-14 season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
