Chestnut Hill, Mass. -
The Boston College women’s soccer program will be anxiously watching Friday’s Women’s World Cup match between Germany and France. The Eagles will certainly be cheering for France as former defender Laura Georges is a mainstay in the back for the French.
Georges, who earned her marketing degree from BC in 2007, is considered one of the world’s premier defenders. She has 163 caps playing with the national team.
While at BC, Georges was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as a senior and earned All-ACC first-team honors. She was also a Hermann Trophy semifinalist as well as a candidate for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year.
In her three seasons, Georges made a huge impact as the team won 39 games, advanced to the NCAA Tournament each season, including two Sweet 16's appearances.
On Friday, France and Germany will play at 4 p.m. and fans can watch on Fox.
