June 22, 2015 | Men's Hockey
The seventh member of the Boston College 2015-16 incoming class, Colin White, skates into The Heights as a local, and also somewhat of an American hero.
White, a member of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, rejoins teammate Casey Fitzgerald at Boston College.
The Hanover, Mass., native also played an imperative role for the U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team last year. Not only was White the squad's assistant captain, he netted the overtime game-winning goal over Finland in the U-18 World Championship game to give Team USA the gold medal.
In addition to his international heroics, the 6-foot-0 forward had a productive season with the U.S. National Under-18 Team by accumulating 54 points, including 23 goals and 31 assists. Prior to his final year with the NTDP, White was the assistant captain of the National Under-17 Team and notched 33 goals and 31 assists (64 points) in 47 tilts, leading the team with four short-handed goals and six power play tallies.
In that 2013-14 season, the local product earned his leadership debut as the assistant captain of the gold-medal winning U-17 World Hockey Challenge club. Within that tournament, White led the entire bracket with 10 goals, including 18 points, in all.
Before heading to the Ann Arbor, Mich., (home of the NTDP), White combined for 76 points (34-42-76) in two seasons at Noble and Greenough from 2011 to 2013.
White hails from an athletic background as his father, Mark, played football and competed in track & field at Georgia Tech and is enshrined in the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame while mother, Christine, played tennis at Florida State.
