Men's Hockey Incoming Class: Meet Joey Dudek
May 18, 2015 | Men's Hockey
Incoming forward Joey Dudek joins Chris Brown and five other forwards, two defensemen and a goaltender as part of head coach Jerry York's 2015-16 incoming class for the fall. Like Brown, Dudek also skated with two different clubs in the United States Hockey League (USHL).
The Auburn, N.H., native started last season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints where he logged six goals and as many assists in 41 games before being traded to the Chicago Steel. In Chicago, the 5-foot-11 forward tallied four goals and two helpers in 13 games played.
Before his time in the USHL, Dudek was a staple at Kimball Union Academy and captained the squad got the 2013-14. Throughout his tenure at KUA, the incoming freshmen posted 86 career points, including 26 goals and 60 assists in two seasons (2012-14) at Kimball Union.
Like Brown, Dudek is one of three incoming Eagles to already have been drafted as the New Englander was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round (152nd) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. In fact, Dudek was selected immediately with the next pick following Brown's selection to the Buffalo Sabres with the 151st pick.
Dudek hails from an athletic lineage as his father, Joe, played football at Plymouth State and broke Walter Payton's NCAA record for career touchdowns in 1985. Dudek's father finished ninth in the Heisman Trophy race, the best even finish for a non-Division I player and was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
