Four Lacrosse Players Earn IWLCA All-Region Honors

CHESTNUT, Mass. -Boston College women's lacrosse players Sarah Mannelly, Mikaela Rix, Covie Stanwick and Caroline Margolis have earned IWLCA All-Northeast Region honors, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.
Mannelly, Rix and Stanwick gained first team status while Margolis, a senior, earned second team laurels. After earning regional honors, the three players are eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA's National All-American team to be announced on May 18.
Both Rix and Stanwick made the IWLCA National All-America team last season. For the eighth straight year, BC landed players on the All-Region team. This is the first time four players were named to the team.
Mannelly, a junior, was second on the team in points scored with 67. She finished the season with 50 goals and 17 assists in 19 games. She led the team in draw controls (40) and shots (117). Mannelly, a native of New Canaan, Conn., was a first-team All-ACC honoree and a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award, the first in BC's history.
Rix, a two-time Tewaaraton Award Nominee, played in 14 games and finished the season with 40 goals and seven assists for 47 points. A native of Garden City, N.Y., Rix is a four-time All-ACC honoree and earned the ACC Post-Graduate Scholarship. She is third in program history in career points with 222 and second in goals scored with 187.
Stanwick, an All-ACC first team honoree, led the team in scoring with 50 goals, 26 assists and 76 points. The Baltimore, Md. product is now the program's all-time leading scorer with 196 goals, 113 assists for 309 points. She owns the record for most goals in a single season when she scored 65 in her sophomore season.
Margolis had a break out season. The junior midfielder had career-highs in goals scored (37), assists (28) and points (65). A native of Raleigh, N.C., Margolis was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week twice this past season and was named Eagle of the Week on March 3. Margolis had two goals and three assists in the NCAA game last week vs. Loyola.
