Bailey, Barnard Named Eagles of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior captains William Bailey and Elizabeth Barnard of the sailing team have been named Eagles of the Week for their performances last week.

Bailey and Barnard led the Eagles to the New England Conference Team Race Championship this past weekend. The victory qualifies Boston College for the National Championships in Newport, RI May 29-June 1.

The Eagles went undefeated in their 10 matches on Saturday in windy conditions. BC also defeated No. 1 Yale twice on Sunday.

Boston College finished the event with a 16-3 record, giving them a comfortable victory over Roger Williams which went 12-6. This is BC's sixth Team Race Conference Championship since 2008 and the seventh in program history.
