BC-GEORGIA TECH MEET IN OPENING ROUND OF ACC TOURNAMENT
• Boston College will face Georgia Tech in the opening round of the 2015 New York Life ACC Tournament on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum.
• BC is the No. 12 seed while Georgia Tech is No. 13.
• This marks the third-straight year that BC and the Yellow Jackets will meet in the ACC Tournament first round. The Eagles won in 2013 while Georgia Tech won last season.
• The game will be televised on both ESPN2 and the ACC Network/TV38.
• Boston College won the regular season meeting between the two on January 25, 64-62, in Atlanta.
• BC enters the tournament with a three-game winning streak which is the second best in the ACC.
• Georgia Tech has lost its last four outings.
BC IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
• Boston College is 7-9 all-time in the ACC Tournament.
• BC has not advanced past the quarter final round since 2007.
• The Eagles reached the ACC Tournament championship game in their first season in the conference in 2006 and advanced to the semifinals the following year.
• The Eagles lost in the opening round of the tournament last year to Georgia Tech in overtime, 73-70.
• BC trailed in that game, 61-51, at the under-four media timeout. It scored the next 10 points to tie it up with 52 seconds left in regulation. Patrick Heckmann had six of those points.
• BC had a 67-66 lead with 1:44 to go in overtime, but Georgia Tech scored the next five points (including three from Trae Golden) to take a decisive 71-67 lead.
LAST TIME vs. GEORGIA TECH
• Junior Olivier Hanlan led all scorers with 25 points while pulling down seven rebounds as BC won at Georgia Tech, 64-62, on January 25.
• Hanlan was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc.
• Senior Patrick Heckmann scored 12 points, including 10 in the second half.
• Graduate student Aaron Brown added 11 points.
• Georgia Tech went on the first run of the game, a 9-3 one, to build a 14-7 lead at the 8:56 mark.
• Boston College then rattled off 12 unanswered points to take a 19-14 lead with just under five minutes left in the half. Hanlan and Brown both had five points in that span.
• Marcus Georges-Hunt hit consecutive 3-pointers to spark an 8-0 response which gave the Yellow Jackets the lead back, 22-19, with 3:36 left.
• The Eagles ended the first half on a 7-2 run to take a 26-24 lead into the break.
• BC started the second half on an 8-2 run and eventually gained a 40-30 lead with 14:35 left in the game.
• Georgia Tech scored seven unanswered points midway through the half to cut the BC lead down to 48-44 at the 8:34 mark.
• Boston College held a 59-52 lead with 3:58 left, but a 7-0 Georgia Tech run tied it up with 1:26 to go.
• Hanlan hit a layup and then Heckmann converted a 1-and-1 for the game's next four points which secured the win.
HANLAN NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-ACC
• Junior Olivier Hanlan was named to the First Team All-ACC by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA) and the league's 15 head coaches.
• Hanlan became the fifth Boston College player to earn First Team All-ACC accolades and the first since Reggie Jackson in 2011. The other three Eagles to receive the honor include Tyrese Rice (2008), Jared Dudley (2007) and Craig Smith (2006).
• Hanlan was dominant in conference play this season as he finished first in the league in scoring (21.9), first in 3-point percentage (.436), third in 3-pointers made (2.83), fifth in free throw percentage (.810), sixth in field goal percentage (.483) and 10th in assists (4.00). He scored 18 or more points in 13 of the 18 games and recorded four or more assists in 12 outings. The Aylmer, Quebec product led the ACC in 30-point games (four) and also led all players in major conferences in scoring average during league play.
• Overall, Hanlan led the ACC in scoring (19.4) and ranked eighth in field goal percentage (.463), eighth in 3-point percentage (.361), eighth in 3-pointers made (2.10), and ninth in assists (4.20). He also led the league in minutes played at 37.67 per game. Hanlan ranks 21st in the country in scoring, 12th in field goals made (212) and 10th in minutes.
