Eagles to Host Clarkson in NCAA Quarterfinal Saturday

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Boston College women's hockey will host Clarkson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Kelley Rink on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 1 p.m. The Eagles earned the No. 2 seed--their highest ever ranking going into the tournament.
"We're excited. We worked hard this season and I think we put ourselves in a good spot and really earned that number two seed. We're excited to play Clarkson. They ended our season last year. It's something to look forward to especially on our ice this year," said head coach Katie King Crowley.
The winner will advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minn. to take on the winner of #3 Harvard and Quinnipiac on Friday, Mar. 20.
This is the Eagles' fifth consecutive trip--seventh overall--to the NCAA Quarterfinal. Boston College has also made NCAA appearances in 2006-7, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14.
BC has hosted the NCAA Quarterfinal three times before:
- 2011: #4 BC def. Minnesota, 4-1
- 2012: #4 BC def. #7 St. Lawrence, 6-3
- 2013: #4 BC def. #5 Harvard, 3-1
Overall, BC is 4-6 in the NCAA Tournament and 4-2 in the quarterfinal round. Last season, the Eagles fell to eventual National Champion Clarkson, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round.
Boston College and Clarkson have met 10 times before, including last season's NCAA tilt. The Eagles are 5-2-3 against Clarkson in the all-time series.
The Golden Knights are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Cornell in the ECAC semifinals while BC looks to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Boston University in the WHEA Championship.
The other side of the bracket features #1 seed Minnesota, who will host RIT, and #4 Wisconsin, who plays host toBoston University.
Boston College enters the tournament with its best ever record (33-2-2, 20-0-1 WHEA).
