BC Women Open Outdoor Season at Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, NC--The Boston College Women's track team began their outdoor campaign with a trip to North Carolina to partake in the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State. The events began Friday afternoon and wrapped up Saturday. The meet brought together some of the most talented teams on the east coast and Midwest.
Junior Danielle Winslow finished third in her heat and twelfth overall in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:29.12. Junior Carly Daniel competed in section 6 of the 400 meter preliminaries, taking first place in her section with a time of 57.68, earning her 27th in the event. Junior Kristen McDonaugh started her outdoor season off strong with a second place finish in the women's high jump college division, eclipsing 5'3".   
BC's most impressive performances came from their relay teams. The women's sprint medley team, Carly Daniel, Robin Gross, Johanna Celli, and Katherine O'Keefe, took first place in their heat and eventually went on to place fourth overall in the event with a time of 4:06.58.
The 4x400 (Johanna Celli, Robin Gross, Claudia DiSomma, Carly Daniel) team took second place in their heat and went on to finish seventh with a time of 3:35.69. However, the women of the 4x1500 meters (Katherine O'Keefe, Claudia DiSomma, Danielle Winslow, Madeleine Davidson) put together the notable performance of the meet for the Eagles. The team took home first prize, holding a five second lead over the second place finishers, Michigan State.
The Eagles split up next weekend, with most of the team travelling to the UMass Tri-Meet and the rest flying out to Palo Alto for the Stanford University Invitational.
