#2 Eagles Host Clarkson in NCAA Quarterfinal Saturday

NCAA QUARTERFINAL REMATCH
- Boston College women's hockey will host Clarkson in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Kelley Rink on Saturday, Mar. 14 at 1 p.m.
- Boston College and Clarkson have met 10 times before, including BC's loss to the Golden Knights in last season's NCAA Quarterfinal tilt in Potsdam, N.Y. The Eagles are 5-4-3 against Clarkson in the all-time series.
- The Golden Knights are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Cornell in the ECAC semifinals while BC looks to bounce back from a 4-1 loss to Boston University in the WHEA Championship.
- The winner will advance to the Frozen Four in Minneapolis, Minn. to take on the winner of #3 Harvard and Quinnipiac on Friday, Mar. 20.
MAROON & GOLD IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
- This is the Eagles' fifth consecutive trip--seventh overall--to the NCAA Quarterfinal.
- Boston College has also made NCAA appearances in 2006-7, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14.
- BC has hosted the NCAA Quarterfinal three times before:
- 2011: #4 BC def. Minnesota, 4-1
- 2012: #4 BC def. #7 St. Lawrence, 6-3
- 2013: #4 BC def. #5 Harvard, 3-1
- Overall, BC is 4-6 in the NCAA Tournament and 4-2 in the quarterfinal round.
- Last season, the Eagles fell to eventual National Champion Clarkson, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round.
SEEDING THE EAGLES
- BC was awarded its highest seed to begin the NCAA Tournament, earning the #2 spot
- Boston College enters the tournament with its best ever record (33-2-2, 20-0-1 WHEA).
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
- Clarkson sits at 24-10-3 heading into Saturday's NCAA Quarterfinal matchup.
- The Golden Knights finished the regular season tied for first place in the ECAC with Harvard, earning 34 points on 16 wins in conference play.
- Key games this season for Clarkson included a 2-2 overtime tie vs. Harvard on Nov. 14, a 1-1 tie vs. Cornell on Jan. 10, a 1-1 tie vs. Wisconin on Jan. 24, and a 1-0 win vs. league rival Harvard on Feb. 21.
TEAM LEADERS
- Junior forwards Alex Carpenter (1st- 2.23 ppg) and Haley Skarupa (2nd - 1.91 ppg) have topped the Eagles and the nation in points per game for the majority of the 2014-15 season.
- BC freshman goaltender Katie Burt's 1.08 goals against average leads the nation while her .942 save percentage ranks fifth in the country.
- Sophomore forward Cayley Mercer leads the Golden Knights with 43 points on 24 goals and 19 assists through 37 games this season.
- Junior forward Shannon MacAulay is second on the squad, tallying 33 points on 16 goals and 17 assists.
- Freshman goaltender Shea Tiley owns a 1.33 goals against average and a .942 save percentage--both good for sixth in the nation-- through 37 games this season.
- Tiley's nine shutouts are tied for fifth in the NCAA and she has allowed just 47 goals.
