BC BEGINS HOME STAND BY HOSTING #12/13 NORTH CAROLINA SATURDAY
• Boston College will conclude its season with six of its last nine games at home in Conte Forum, beginning with #12/13 North Carolina on Saturday at 3 p.m.
• The game will be televised on the ACC Network/TV38 with Tim Brando and Dan Bonner on the call.
• North Carolina has won the last five meetings between the programs, including an 82-71 triumph last year in Chapel Hill.
• Boston College has lost its last three outings, including a 71-63 decision on Wednesday at #10/10 Notre Dame.
• The Tar Heels have lost their last two after rattling off six-straight wins. The losses have come against #10/9 Louisville and #3/3 Virginia.
EAGLES LOSE AT #10/10 NOTRE DAME
• Junior Olivier Hanlan scored a game-high 28 points as Boston College lost at #10/10 Notre Dame on Wednesday, 71-63.
• He was 11-for-16 shooting and 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. He also had four rebounds and four assists.
• Eighteen of Hanlan's points came in the second half.
• Graduate student Aaron Brown was the other player in double figures with 13 points.
• The Irish opened the game with a 34-9 run over the first 15 minutes.
• Boston College scored the last five points of the half to cut its deficit to 41-25.
• The Eagles then scored the first four points of the second half to make it a 41-29 lead, the closest BC had been since there were 13 minutes left in the first half.
• Notre Dame held a 63-49 lead with 4:19 remaining.
• Hanlan then scored the next 12 BC points by connecting on four 3-pointers to bring the deficit down to 67-61 with 1:47 left, but that is as close as the Eagles would get.
LAST YEAR AT NORTH CAROLINA
• Ryan Anderson recorded his 18th career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds as BC lost at North Carolina on January 18, 82-71.
• Joe Rahon recorded 13 points and six assists.
• Lonnie Jackson went 4-for-6 from the beyond the arc for 14 points.
• Eddie Odio scored a career-high 12 points and Olivier Hanlan had 16.
• North Carolina made the first run of the game, a 16-2 stretch over 3:40 to take a 20-9 lead at the 13:08 mark.
• Boston College responded with a 13-4 run to pull within a bucket, 24-22, with 8:28 left. Odio hit two of BC's three treys in that span.
• The Tar Heels led at the half, 36-32.
• UNC led, 52-46, before BC cut the lead down to 56-55.
• North Carolina made a decisive 9-2 run over the next 3:21 to build a 65-57 lead.
HANLAN GETS HOT IN ACC PLAY
• Junior Olivier Hanlan has turned up his play for the ACC season.
• He ranks first in the ACC in 3-point percentage (.490), third in scoring (18.8) and assists (5.00), and fifth in 3-pointers made (2.78) during conference play.
• The Aylmer, Quebec product has scored 18 or more points in six of the nine games and he has recorded four or more assists in eight outings. He matched a career high with nine assists against #10/9 Louisville and had 28 points at #10/10 Notre Dame.
• He is the only player in the ACC to rank in the top five in points and assists during league play.
COACHES POWERING FORWARD FOR AUTISM BENEFITING AUTISM SPEAKS
• Coaches Powering Forward for Autism benefiting Autism Speaks is in its second season and is intended to drive awareness and funds for the one in 68 children on the autism spectrum.
• This year, officials working the 62 games broadcast over the weekend will have the option of wearing the blue puzzle piece pins (right). Last season, close to 90 coaches and broadcasters wore the pins.
• There will be close to 200 coaches, broadcasters and officials participating in the program this year. Head Coach Jim Christian and the rest of the staff members will participate on Saturday.
• All funds generated will go towards Autism Speaks' research and advocacy efforts on behalf of the autism community.
