February 05, 2015 | Women's Hockey
Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College women’s hockey goaltender Katie Burt has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for her play in January. This is Burt’s second consecutive Goaltender of the Month award from the league.
In addition to earning a Gold Medal with the U.S. U-18 National Team at the 2015 IIHF World Championships, Burt recorded two shutouts for the Eagles in January. The Lynn, Mass. native is now tied for second on BC’s single-season shutout list, tallying six this season.
Burt’s 1.03 goals against average and .945 save percentage rank second and third in the nation, respectively, and have kept the Eagles undefeated through 27 games. The freshman goaltender boasts the leading winning percentage in the country, posting .979 on the season.
Boston College has had at least one representative in each month’s Hockey East accolades. Burt also won Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Month for her performance in December.
The No. 1 BC Eagles are back in action this Friday, Feb. 6 to host UConn at 7 p.m.
