#1 Women's Hockey Hosts PC in WHEA Quarterfinal

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - No. 1 Boston College women's hockey is set to host #8 seed Providence in the Hockey East Quarterfinal this weekend at Kelley Rink. The Eagles and Friars will clash on Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28, both at 7 p.m, with a tie-breaker on Sunday, Mar. 1 at 7 p.m. if necessary.

EAGLES IN THE WHEA TOURNAMENT
- This is BC's first ever #1 seed in the Hockey East Tournament.
- Since its inception in 2003, Boston College is 7-8 all-time in the Hockey East Tournament.
- BC's first and only Hockey East Tournament Championship came in 2011, when the second-seeded Eagles downed #5 Northeastern, 3-1.
- BC is 2-1 in quarterfinal play, 4-4 in semifinal play, and 1-3 in the Championship game.
- Last year, the Eagles downed UNH in the quarterfinal, 8-1, and beat Vermont, 3-1, in the semifinal to advance to its fourth Championship game.
- #2 BC eventually fell to #1 Boston University, 3-2, to take second place in last year's tournament.
PITTED AGAINST PROVIDENCE
- The Eagles are 3-0 against the Friars this season, outscoring PC 16-3 in total.
- BC and Providence are knotted up at 2-2 in Hockey East Tournament meetings.
- All four meetings have come in semifinal matchups (2005, 2006, 2007, 2011).
- Providence went on to win the championship in 2005, while BC took the crown in 2011.
THE LAST MEETING
- The Eagles earned a hard fought 4-2 victory over Providence at Schneider Arena on Jan. 30.
- Senior defenseman Emily Pfalzer notched a late first period goal to tie the game, 1-1, heading into the first intermission.
- The Eagles had a breakout third period as junior forward Haley Skarupa netted two goals to pull away from PC.
- Junior forward Alex Carpenter's empty-netter sealed BC's 4-2 win vs. the Friars.
