Cambridge, Mass.- The Women's Tennis team traveled to Harvard on Saturday afternoon, looking to start a win streak. The Eagles would end up losing a close one to the Harvard Crimson, 4-3.
"Another tough, very close loss for us," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "We played shorthanded tonight, but I thought we rallied around each other and played super hard."
Harvard opened the match winning the doubles competition. Jessica Wacnik and Lexi Borr continued their impeccable doubles play, but it wouldn't be enough.
In the singles competition, Wacnik had a big win over Harvard's June Lee (6-2, 6-2). Associate head coach Kieran Burke commended his senior captain for her strong play of late.
"Jessica is playing at an extremely high level," he said. "Since her tough start against Dartmouth, she's played great."
Sophomore Lexi Borr lost a close match against Harvard freshman Nikki Kallenberg. Although the Eagles' Asiya Dair and Emily Safron stayed consistent with singles wins, it wouldn't be enough as Harvard would take the 4-3 win.
The Eagles will travel to Dedham, MA to take on UMass this Friday, February 6th at 5:00 p.m.
