February 01, 2015 | Men's Hockey
BOSTON – The 63rd annual men’s Beanpot Tournament semifinal round to be held at TD Garden on Monday, Feb. 2, will be postponed until Tuesday, Feb. 3, due to incoming weather.
The Northeastern vs. Boston College semifinal game will remain scheduled for 8 p.m. while the Harvard – Boston University semifinal contest is still slated for 5 p.m.
The championship / consolation rounds are still scheduled to be played on Monday, Feb. 9, at TD Garden. The consolation game will be played at 4:30 p.m. with the championship game following at 7:30 p.m.
New England Sports Network (NESN) will still broadcast Tuesday’s games live as well as Monday’s championship game at 7:30 p.m.
The 2015 Beanpot marks the third postponement in the tournament’s history. Feb. 3, 2015 marks the second time a men’s Beanpot game will played on a Tuesday. In the 1983 Tournament, the semifinal round was also pushed to Tuesday and was contested on Feb. 8. Boston College defeated Northeastern, 8-2, in the championship bout on Monday, Feb. 14. The Blizzard of 1978 also created a postponing, pushing the championship and consolation rounds of the 1978 Beanpot to Wednesday, March 1, 1978. The famous ‘blizzard games’ were played that Monday, Feb. 6, 1978.
The women’s Beanpot Tournament to be staged at Harvard University is annually played on the first two Tuesdays of February. That tournament’s schedule will remain intact.
