CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Freshman midfielder Trevor Davock and sophomore defender Len Zeugner were both placed on the College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com national teams of the week for their roles in the match at No. 2 Georgetown.
Davock scored the BC goal in the 19th minute to put the Eagles on top, 1-0, as the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Boston College, including Davock, connected on each of their penalty kicks to take a 5-4 decision and move on to the next round.
Zeugner anchored the defense that held one of the nation's top offenses to just three shots on goal. He then converted the final penalty kick, taking an unstoppable shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and went in.
This is Boston College's second appearance in the round of eight. The other came in 2002.
The Eagles travel to No. 6 Syracuse on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the right to advance to the College Cup that will be held next weekend at Sporting Park in Kansas City.
