Flynn, Heil, Vaughn To Join Squad Next Year
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.—Boston College Women's track team is pleased to announce the signing of three new members to the Class of 2020. The Eagles are excited for the talented newcomers to make an immediate impact to the program.
Anna Flynn will travel to the Heights following her senior season at the Ursuline School. The New Rochelle, NY, native has created quite a name for herself over her last three seasons. During her 2014-2015 campaign, Flynn placed herself among the nations elite. She ranked in the top-10 nationally in the 1500m, 1600m, mile, and 3000 meters. She was selected to run in the New Balance Grand Prix HS mile, a race reserved for only the nations best. During her 2014 cross-country season, Flynn was also named a Footlocker Finalist.
Monica Heil has also announced her intentions to join the Eagles next season. Heil, a Holmdel, NJ, native, made considerable strides during her 2015 track season. She won the Shore and Monmouth Conference titles in the 400 meters. Heil continued her strong season with a second place finish in the 400m at the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, setting a new personal record with a time of 55.86.
The final newcomer to the team is Oakwood, OH, native Mary Kate Vaughn. Vaughn made a name for herself early in her high school career. She won the D2 State Championship during her freshman cross-country season, posting a time of 17:41.57. After an injury-plagued 2014 season, Vaughn has returned to her previous form. She was ranked as high as second in the state following an early season win at the Bob Schul Invitational.
The women's track team begins their 2015-2016 winter season at the BU Season Opener on December 5th.
