Eagles Earn At-Large Bid Into NCAA Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The season will go on for the Boston College field hockey team.
On Sunday night, the Eagles were selected for an at-large bid into the 2015 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. The team will travel to Storrs, Conn., to take on American East Conference champion Albany on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.
The winner will take on the winner of fourth-ranked host Connecticut and Louisville on Sunday, Nov. 15.
This will mark the 10th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament for Boston College, which has earned a bid in each of the past three seasons. The team is 2-9 all-time in the tournament, including a 2-1 loss to Penn State in the first round last year.
The Eagles and Great Danes (19-2) have met just once before, with Boston College winning, 2-1, in overtime at Chestnut Hill in 2007.
All seven Atlantic Coast Conference teams qualified for the tournament. Syracuse claimed the No. 1 seed and will host the winner of Massachusetts/Kent State, No. 2 North Carolina will face the winner of Boston University/Fairfield, No. 3 Virginia will take on Delaware, Wake Forest will play Michigan, Duke will square off against Stanford and Louisville takes on No. 4 Connecticut.
