Junior falls to 18th-ranked player in country
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Junior Lexi Borr's run at the Riviera/ITA All-American came to an end on Thursday when she dropped a 6-4, 7-6 (2) decision to No. 18 Rachel Pierson of Texas A&M in the first round of Main Bracket play.
Borr had earned a spot in the main bracket after winning three matches in the qualifying rounds, including a pair of wins over higher-ranked opponents.
Borr, ranked No. 90 in the country this fall, kept the match close with Pierson before ultimately falling in the second-set tie break.
The Eagles return to team play this weekend at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
