Quinn Amsler Drafted By Boston College
October 09, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Will be youngest member of the Eagles
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Quinn Amsler, a nine-year-old from nearby Lexington, will become the ninth newcomer on the 2015-16 edition of the Boston College men's basketball team.
Head Coach Jim Christian, whose team already has eight new faces, jumped at the chance to sign Quinn.
"Sometimes you just meet a young person and you know they have the qualities you want," Christian said. "We want toughness. We want young people who understand that when adversity hits, you tackle it head on with a positive attitude. And then you want to be an inspiration for others. There was no doubt in my mind that when we met Quinn, that he is what we want in this program."
Quinn was diagnosed with sarcoma this past April and had a bad reaction to his chemotherapy, which landed him in the hospital for multiple months. He was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he is currently undergoing physical therapy while continuing his chemo treatments.
Fans can catch their first look of Quinn and the 2015-16 Eagles on Thursday, November 5 when they host Bentley for an exhibition at 6 p.m. in Conte Forum. The regular season opens on Saturday, November 14 against St. Francis Brooklyn.
