Homestead To Start the Season
The Eagles are in the midst of a six-game stretch to open the season at Kelley Rink … last weekend, BC posted back-to-back wins over Minnesota Duluth (4-1 and 4-2) … after this weekend's games, the Eagles will open Hockey East play next weekend with games against Maine on Saturday, Oct. 17, and New Hampshire on Sunday, Oct. 18 … overall, BC will play 11 of their first 16 games at home before playing 13 of their final 18 games away from home after Thanksgiving
Home Streak Continues
Boston College enters Sunday's game riding a 35-game home unbeaten run that dates back to Oct. 20, 2013 … in this current stretch, BC has gone 34-0-1 at home and won the last 29 games played at Kelley Rink ... the Eagles have out-scored their opponents 184-43 in their last 35 home games during the unbeaten run, averaging 5.25 goals per game while allowing just 1.23
Carpenter Picks Back Up
One year removed from winning the Patty Kazmaier Award as the national player of the year, Alex Carpenter opened the 2015-16 campaign right where she left off … Carpenter scored goals in the Eagles' two-game sweep of Minnesota Duluth, potting one goal in the team's 4-1 win on Friday night before netting her fourth career hat trick on Saturday in the 4-2 win … after two games, Carpenter leads the Eagles in scoring and is tied for fifth nationally in points (4) and points per game (2.00), one point back of four players with five points in two games .. her four goals are tied for the national lead with three other players, including two from Hockey East: Northeastern's Kendall Coyne and Maine's Audra Richards.
Second Line Connects
The newly-formed second line for BC – Andie Anastos centering Meghan Grieves and Haley Skarupa – was part of three goals last weekend … Anastos had two goals, while both Grieves and Skarupa recorded two assists apiece … Anastos scored both of her goals in the Eagles' 4-1 win over Minnesota Duluth, marking her fourth career two-goal game … Skarupa's two-assist effort in the same game was her 22nd career multiple-assist game … Grieves registered single assists in each of the team's two games, first assisting on Anastos' second goal in Saturday's 4-1 win before setting up Megan Keller's opening goal in Saturday's 4-2 win.
Rookies Make Strong Debuts
Four of the team's seven freshmen made their collegiate debuts last weekend, with Grace Bizal, Ryan Little, Makenna Newkirk and Molly Slowe all seeing ice time … Newkirk recorded two assists – one each game – while playing on the team's third line with Dana Trivigno and Kristyn Capizzano … Bizal paired with Lexi Bender on defense, and picked up the game's third star on Saturday … Little centered the team's fourth line, which also featured Slowe on the wing.
Burt Has Career Night
Katie Burt stood tall under heavy pressure from Minnesota Duluth in two games last weekend, but on Saturday, she was called on to make a career-high 32 saves in the Eagles' 4-2 win … Burt's previous high was 29 in a 6-1 win at Dartmouth on Dec. 10, 2014 … after making 22 saves on Friday night, Burt made 8 saves in the first period, 10 in the second period and 14 in the third Saturday night to establish a career high.
Out-Shot, but Not Out
In last Saturday's game against Minnesota Duluth, the Eagles were out-shot 34-33, marking the first time BC had been out-shot since March 15, 2014 – the team's 3-1 loss at Clarkson in the NCAA Quarterfinals in which the Golden Knights paced BC, 32-24.
Keller Converts
Megan Keller recorded 24 points as a freshman (4 goals, 20 assists), and opened up her account early in 2015-16 … in the team's opening weekend, she recorded an assist on Alex Carpenter's power-play goal in last Friday's win over Duluth, then scored the game's opening goal on Saturday in the 4-2 win … her goal on Oct. 3 was her first since scoring one goal against Northeastern on Jan. 11, 2015.
Trivigno Knocking on Door of 100-Point Club
Dana Trivigno is just eight points away from recording her 100th career point at Boston College … after scoring the first goal of the Eagles' season last Friday night, she now has 92 points from 41 goals and 51 assists … should she record 100 points, she would become just the 12th player in BC history to reach the 100-point threshold.
