BC Set For Four-Game Home Stand

Eagles face Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh to start
The Boston College volleyball program will welcome four ACC schools to the Heights over the next nine days for their first of two four-game homestands on the schedule for the Eagles over the remaining two months of the season.
The action will begin when the Maroon and Gold host Virginia Tech Friday evening, Oct. 9, in Conte Forum for what will be the first time the Eagles play inside the 8606-seat facility this season. Friday's game will also feature the return of several former Boston College players, who will be honored before the game, as part of the homecoming weekend events taking place on the Chestnut Hill campus this weekend. The eight confirmed members who will be honored include athletes who were both a part of the Big East and ACC Boston College volleyball teams dating back to the inaugural season in 1990.
Then on Sunday, volleyball returns to Power Gym for an afternoon matinee with Pittsburgh, scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday's game will also be broadcasted on ESPN3 and the Regional Sports Network, which includes NESN locally and several Fox Sports, Comcast Sports and Root Sports affiliates throughout the country.

Boston College and Virginia Tech (11-5, 2-2 ACC) have faced off 20 times dating back to 2001. The Eagles are 6-14 (.300) all time against the Hokies, and look to snap a five game skid against VT. In the last match between the two schools, also the 2014 season finale for the Eagles, BC lost 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 19-25, 23-25). In that game, Kam McLain tallied 15 kills and a .423 hitting percentage while Katty Workman recorded a double-double 13 kills and 10 digs. Virginia Tech is led by outside hitter Amanda McKinzie, who has a team high 218 kills, a mark that is fourth best in the conference. Ashley Battle leads the Hokies in both hitting percentage (.351) and blocks (61).

All time, the Eagles are 1-19 (.050) against the Panthers, including 0-3 since Pittsburgh joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2013. BC looks to snap a seven game skid vs. the Panthers. The Maroon and Gold fell 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-11) in their only match last season. In that game, Julia Topor tallied a game high 18 kills while Kellie Barnum recorded three aces.
As a team, the Panthers are first in the conference in kills (14.39/set) and assists (13.70/set), while they are fourth in blocks (2.83/set). Senior Amanda Orchard leads the ACC with a .445 hitting percentage and freshman Angela Seman is second in the conference with 4.77 digs per set.

- Boston College enters the weekend with a 1-3 record in the ACC. Most recently, the Eagles split their weekend series with Notre Dame and Louisville as they defeated the Irish 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-17) before falling to the Cardinals by an identical score (25-12, 25-12, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon
- Boston College begin their first of two four-game home stands on the season. Heading into the weekend, the Eagles are undefeated at home, having defeated South Alabama, Providence and Sacred Heart during the Boston College Invitational before topping Northeastern in the most recent home game on Sept. 17.
- This will be the first home game since Katty Workman set the all-time BC career kills record. In the second set of the Sept. 27 game at Georgia Tech, Workman surpassed Kelsey Johnson's mark of 1,449 career kills.
- Workman's 227 kills is currently the top mark across the Atlantic Coast Conference while her 242.5 points is also an ACC best.
- Mallori Moffat is sixth in the ACC with 9.05 assists per set.
- Madisen Lydon is eighth in the ACC with 3.81 digs per set.
- McKenna Goss is currently tied for second across the NCAA for total blocks in a five set match. On Sept. 19. vs. Harvard, Goss tallied 12 total blocks in the final game of the New England Challenge Invitational. She is second only to Southern Methodist's Kristen Stehling, who had 13 total blocks against New Mexico on Sept. 5.
- Friday's game will feature the return of several former Eagles players that will be honored that evening.
