Carpenter Earns Hockey East Weekly Honor
October 05, 2015 | Women's Hockey
Eagles' senior forward named co-player of the week after four-goal weekend.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Alex Carpenter was named Hockey East's Warrior Co-Player of the Week after scoring four goals in the Boston College women's hockey team's two-game sweep of Minnesota Duluth last weekend. She shared the honor with Maine's Audra Richards.
This is Carpenter's first conference weekly honor this season and the 10th conference player of the week nod in her career. Boston University's Sammy Davis earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, while the defensive player of the week nod went to the Terriers goaltender, Victoria Hanson.
On Friday night in the Eagles' 4-1 win over the Bulldogs, Carpenter scored her first goal of the season on the power play in the second period. Saturday, the senior potted three goals – including the game-winner – to help lift the Eagles to the 4-2 win against Duluth. It was the fourth hat trick of her career, and her first since Feb. 19, 2013.
This weekend's goals pushed Carpenter's career total to 94 and her career points total to 194. She currently sits in third place on both the BC career points and goals lists.
The No. 2 Eagles (2-0-0, 0-0-0 HEA) next return to the ice for a two-game series on Sunday, Oct. 11, and Monday, Oct. 12, when they host St. Lawrence (0-3-1, 0-0-0 ECAC) at Kelley Rink. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. both days and both games will be streamed live on bceagles.tv.
