Eagles’ senior picked up third player of the week nod of the season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Alex Carpenter picked up her third Warrior Player of the Week nod in four weeks from Hockey East on Monday. The senior forward shared this week's award with Northeastern's Denisa Krizova.
In a pair of road games at No. 9 Cornell last weekend, Carpenter scored five goals to help lead the No. 2 Eagles to 4-1 and 8-0 wins over the Big Red. On Friday night, she scored the Eagles' second goal on the power play - which was the game-winning goal - then added a shorthanded empty-net goal while the Eagles were defending a 6v3 Cornell power-play with less than 30 seconds remaining. Saturday night, she registered her third hat trick of the season which included her second game-winner in as many nights, as well as her fourth power-play goal of the season. Her first goal of the evening was her 210th career point, claiming the Boston College career scoring record as her own.
Carpenter leads the conference - and the country - in scoring with 22 points and in goals with 13. She's also the national leader in power-play goals (4) and game-winning goals (4).
This Carpenter's 12th career Hockey East player of the week nod and her third in four weeks. Boston College has had at least one player recognized by Hockey East every week the team has played this season.
Boston College (8-0-0, 2-0-0 HEA) returns to action this weekend when the team plays Connecticut (3-1-2, 0-1-0 HEA) in a home-and-away series. The Eagles will host the opener on Friday, Oct. 30, with faceoff set for 2 p.m. at Kelley Rink. The Huskies will host on Saturday, Oct. 31, with a 2 p.m. faceoff at Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. Friday's home game will be streamed live on bceagles.tv.
