TONIGHT'S HEADLINES
- The Eagles are set to open the 2015-16 season against WHCA foe Minnesota Duluth on Friday night
- The teams will play two games at Kelley Rink, with the second tilt set for 3 p.m. on Saturday
- BC is the country's unanimous No. 2 team entering the 2015-16 season, drawing the second slot in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason polls … defending national champion Minnesota was the unanimous No. 1-ranked team
- Katie Crowley returns 17 letterwinners from her record-setting 2014-15 squad, including seven of her top 10 scorers, five of six regular defensemen and her starting goaltender
- Boston College enters the game riding a 33-game home undefeated streak, which dates back to Oct. 16, 2013 ... in that time, the Eagles have gone 32-0-1 with 27 straight wins ... BC's last home loss came via a 3-1 defeat to New Hampshire
GAME NOTES
22nd Season
- Friday night's game kicks off the 22nd season of Boston College women's hockey at the varsity level
- The program elevated from club to Division 1 status ahead of the 1994-95 season
- BC has an all-time record of 324-214-68 in varsity play
- Since Hockey East formed the women's league ahead of the 2002-03 season, BC is 252-153-55.
- Boston College is 11-10 all-time in season openers
- Under head coach Katie Crowley, the Eagles are 5-3 in their first games of the season, including wins in their last two season openers: 5-1 vs. Maine in 2013 and 10-2 vs. Syracuse in 2014
- Friday and Saturday's games against Minnesota Duluth will be the Eagles' eighth and ninth meeting against the Bulldogs
- All-time, BC is 2-5 against UMD, including a 2-4 mark under head coach Katie Crowley
- The teams last met in a two-game set in Chestnut Hill on Oct. 25-26, 2012 … the Bulldogs claimed a 3-2 win in the first game, while the Eagles recorded a 3-2 win in the second tilt
- The programs first met in the national semifinals of the 2007 NCAA Tournament … the Bulldogs earned a 4-3 win in double overtime in Lake Place en route to a spot in the national championship match
- The teams then met for a two-game series in Chestnut Hill in 2009, with the No. 5 Bulldogs winning both games, 3-0 and 5-1
- BC traveled to Minnesota in 2011, opening the season in Duluth … UMD, No. 7 at the time, won the first game 7-2, before the Eagles rebounded in the second match, winning 3-2
- This weekend's games against UMD mark the Eagles' first in-season meetings against Western teams since the same clubs met back in October 2012
- Alex Carpenter has played four games against UMD, leading all Eagles in scoring with 3 goals and 3 assists
- Haley Skarupa (1G, 1A) and Meghan Grieves (2A) have recorded multiple points in a pair of games against Duluth, while Kaliya Johnson and Dana Trivigno each registered one assist in two meetings
