BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Junior Olivier Hanlan recorded game highs with 18 points and eight rebounds while adding six assists. Fourteen of his points came after halftime.
- Graduate student Aaron Brown added 11 points and three assists.
- Sophomore Garland Owens scored a season-high nine points, all in the first half.
TURNING POINT
Boston College held a 53-43 lead with 3:04 left, but Pittsburgh scored 10 unanswered points to close out regulation and force overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College opened the game with an 11-4 run over the first four minutes. Brown scored five of those points.
- Pittsburgh then went on an 18-7 run that lasted nearly 13 minutes to take a 22-18 lead.
- The Eagles responded by closing out the half with nine unanswered points to gain a 27-22 lead. Owens was the spark, scoring seven of the points in the final 2:56.
- Pittsburgh made a 10-2 run early in the second half to close its deficit to 33-32 with 11:25 left.
- BC held a 42-38 lead and then went on a quick 7-2 run to make it a 49-40 advantage with 3:54 remaining.
- With the BC lead at 53-43, the Panthers scored the final 10 points in regulation to force overtime. BC had a pair of chances to win on the final possession but could not connect.
- Five-straight points in overtime gave Boston College a 60-55 lead with 2:46 on the clock. Senior Patrick Heckmann hit a 3-pointer in that span.
- Pitt cut the lead to 60-59 and then forced a BC turnover with 11 seconds left. Josh Newkirk drove the lane on the next possession and hit a layup for the game-winner.
