
Boston College Falls to UConn

Storrs, Conn. -Â UConn hosted the BC Eagles this weekend where both the Men's and Women's swim and dive teams came out with a loss. The meet finished up with UConn 161, BC 122 for the men, and UConn 159, BC 141 for the women. Despite the loss both teams displayed strong competition.
Sophomore David Howard earned his personal best time in the 200 yd. Butterfly, clocking in at 1:55.88 and placing first for BC and third in the event overall. Junior Dan Kelly had an excellent swim in the 50 yd. Freestyle, finishing in first place with a time of 20.77. Kelly also took first in the 100 yd. Freestyle with 46.71. Senior Andrew Stranick took first in the 200 yd. Breaststroke at 2:07.47, followed by junior Alex Rudolph in second place at 2:10.95.
For the women, freshman Amanda Bieler earned her season's best time in the 1000 yd. Freestyle, clocking in at 10:50.12, which put her in second place overall and first for BC in the event. The women finished strong in the last event, the 200 yd. Freestyle Relay, where the team of Madeline Mailliard '17, Kimberly Rich '16, Annie Fothergill '15 and Kate Vanasse '16 took first at 1:42.23. The team earned second place where Elizabeth Manning '16, Amanda Bieler '18, Emily Smith '18 and Megan Fuqua '17 clocked in at 1:45.89.
After a busy weekend, the Eagles will compete next at Boston University in a tri-meet against BU and Colgate on Jan. 31.
