Men's Hoops Travels To Syracuse Tuesday Night

BC TAKES ON SYRACUSE AT THE CARRIER DOME
• Boston College will travel to Syracuse on Tuesday night to take on the Orange in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m.
• The game will be televised on ESPNU with Tom Hart and Len Elmore on the call.
• The last time BC was in Syracuse, it stunned the undefeated #1/1 Orange in overtime, 62-59.
• The Eagles have started ACC play by losing their first four games. The most recent setback came on Saturday to #2/2 Virginia, 66-51.
• Clemson snapped Syracuse's seven-game win streak on Saturday with a 66-53 win.
#2/2 VIRGINIA PULLS AWAY LATE
• Junior Olivier Hanlan led Boston College with 18 points and six assists as the Eagles lost to #2/2 Virginia on Saturday, 66-51.
• Hanlan was 6-for-14 from the field.
• Senior Patrick Heckmann was the other player in double figures with 15 points. He was 6-for-11 from the floor.
• He sparked an Eagle run in the beginning of the second half by scoring nine of the first 12 points.
• The first half was tight the entire 20 minutes as the largest lead was a five-point one for Virginia, 14-9, at the 11:06 mark in the half.
• Sophomore Will Magarity hit his second 3-pointer of the half to tie it up, 22-22, with 4:09 left. It was the first tie since the score was 9-9.
• Virginia's Anthony Gill hit a pair of free throws with four seconds left to take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.
• Heckmann sparked a 14-6 run to begin the second half to give BC a 38-33 lead - its largest of the game.
• The Cavaliers responded immediately with 10 unanswered points to take a 43-38 lead with 8:34 left in the game.
• Holding a 53-48 lead, UVa went on an 8-0 run that pushed the lead to 61-48 with 2:08 remaining.
LAST TIME AT SYRACUSE
• Olivier Hanlan recorded a team-high 20 points and dished out three assists as BC upset undefeated #1/1 Syracuse, 62-59, in overtime on February 19, 2014 at the Carrier Dome.
• Lonnie Jackson scored 10 points while adding three assists and two rebounds. He hit all four of his free throws down the stretch in OT to seal the win.
• Syracuse closed the first half by scoring the last seven points to take a 25-17 lead into the locker room.
• Syracuse scored the first five points of the second to make it 12 unanswered points which stretched the lead to 30-17.
• BC responded with a 29-12 run to take a 46-42 lead at the 6:12 mark.
• Hanlan hit a layup with 47 seconds left to force the overtime.
• Hanlan connected on a 3-pointer to give BC a 53-50 edge with 4:33 left in OT.
• C.J. Fair hit a jumper, but Heckmann responded with a trey to give the Eagles a 56-52 lead with 2:55 to play.
• Tyler Ennis hit a layup to tie the game at 56 with 2:12 to go.
• A layup by Heckmann gave the Eagles a one-point lead, 58-57, with 44 seconds left.
• Jackson hit all four of his free throw attempts down the stretch to seal the win.
DEFENSIVE FOCUS
• Boston College has allowed just 63.5 points per game this season through 16 games.
• Last year through 16 contests, the Eagles were giving up 75.1 points per game - an 11.6 point difference.
• BC has held six opponents to 60 points or less this year and is 4-2 in those outings. Last season, it held just two opponents to 60 points or less through 16 games.
• In addition, the 2014-15 Eagles have allowed just one opponent to score more than 80 points. Last year, five different teams reached that mark to this point.
