Burt, Carpenter Earn Hockey East Honors

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Junior forward Alex Carpenter and freshman goaltender Katie Burt picked up Hockey East honors for their play in the Eagles' weekend sweep of Vermont. Carpenter earned Player of the Week while Burt was tabbed Defensive Co-Player of the Week.
Carpenter tallied three points in BC's 4-0 shutout of UVM on Jan. 17, scoring two goals and adding an assist. The junior forward extended her point streak to 21 games with an assist on Kenzie Kent's empty-netter on Jan. 18. Carpenter has recorded at least one point in each game she has played in this season (21).
The North Reading, Mass. native (23-32-55) continues to lead the nation in points per game (2.62), goals per game (1.10), and assists per game (1.52). Carpenter has earned two weekly awards (Dec. 15, Jan. 19) and two monthly accolades (Oct., Nov.) this season.
Burt earns Defensive Co-Player of the Week after recording two shutouts vs. the Catamounts last weekend. The freshman goaltender stopped 21 pucks on Jan. 17 and 13 shots on Jan. 18 to keep Vermont goalless . Burt's two shutouts bring her to six on the season, tying Corinne Boyles (2011-12) for second in the BC record books on the single-season shutout list.
Burt's stellar performance against UVM brought her goals against average below one at 0.93, good for second in the nation. The Lynn, Mass. native also ranks second nationally in save percentage, posting a .951. Burt has earned three weekly awards (Oct. 27, Dec. 15, Jan. 19) and two monthly awards (Rookie and Goaltender of the Month for Dec.) so far this season.
Burt, Carpenter and the Eagles are back in action this Saturday, Jan. 24 when they host #4/4 Quinnipiac at Kelley Rink at 2 p.m.
