Women's Basketball Hosts #25 Syracuse

The Boston College women's basketball will host No. 25 Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door. Fans can also view the game on the BC website for free.
Boston College is now 8-9 (0-4) on the season while Syracuse is 12-5 and 2-2 in the conference. The Eagles are coming off a tough loss at Virginia, 64-58, on Thursday night. Sophomore Kelly Hughes had 14 points while junior Alexa Coulombe chipped in with eight points, three boards and three blocks.
Syracuse is coming off a victory over Wake Forest, 73-62, at home. Sophomore Alexis Peterson had a career-high 32 points on 10-of-15 from the floor.
BC vs. Syrcuse
- This will be the 45th game between BC and Syracuse.
- The Eagles lead the overall series, 23-21.
- The two teams first played on Feb. 19, 1983 in New York. Syracuse won the game, 66-62, despite 21 points from Rita Roach'86 and 16 from Jane Haubrich `85. Biz Houghton `86 had 12 boards in the loss.
- BC has won four of the last five meetings.
- Last year, Syracuse defeated BC, 71-47, at Conte Forum on Feb. 16. It was the first time the two teams met since the Eagles joined the ACC in 2005.

- Sophomore Emilee Daley has started three of the last five games. Daley is shooting 48 percent from the floor and averaging eight points per game.
- Junior Nicole Boudreau and sophomore Kelly Hughes are the only two players to start every game this season. BC is 0-4 while averaging just 61 points per game.
- The team is shooting just 37.3 percent and averaging 19.3 turnovers in the last four games, while its opponents are shooting 46.2% and averaging just 15.5 turnovers.
- Against Virginia, BC shot a season-low 3-for-15 from the three-point arc, while giving up a season-high 13 three's to the Cavaliers. The Eagles are second in the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage (38.2%).
- Emilee Daley is fourth in the ACC at 42%, while Kelly Hughes is 8th at 40.7% and Nicole Boudreau is shooting 39.8% for 10th place in the conference.
- BC still leads the ACC in three-pointers made with 139. This weekend's opponent Syracuse is second with 134 made.
- BC is seventh in the league in blocked shots due to Karima Gabriel and Alexa Coulombe's presence. Gabriel has 25 blocks while Coulombe has 18.
- Junior Alexa Coulombe had a season-high eight points and matched her season-high of three blocks vs. Virginia. She also had three boards and two assists in a season-high 24 minutes.
THIS DAY IN HISTORY
- On January 18, 2009, Boston College defeated Miami, 62-54, behind 14 points from Mickel Picco, 12 points from Stefanie Murphy and 10 from Carolyn Swords. The win pushed BC to a 14-4 overall record and a 3-1 ACC mark. Picco was a junior, while Murphy and Swords, who combined for 15 rebounds, were just sophomores.

- The Eagles next home game is on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. against Syracuse. Prior to the game, the program will host a Girls and Women in Sports Event. There will be skills and fitness stations conducted by BC athletes from the women's soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, fencing, rowing and volleyball teams. The skills and fitness stations will begin at 10:30 and run for one hour. The teams will then conduct an autograph session from 11:30-12:30 p.m. leading to the 1 p.m. tip-off between Boston College and Syracuse.
- Youths interested in attending can enter through Gate B of Conte Forum and must arrive before 10:15 a.m. to participate in the skills sessions. All youths accompanying adults will have free admission to the women's basketball game. Kids must be in eighth grade or younger.
