BC HOSTS UNDEFEATED VIRGINIA SATURDAY AFTERNOON
• Boston College will host undefeated #2/2 Virginia on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Conte Forum.
• The game will be televised on RSN/NESN with Wes Durham and Dan Bonner on the call.
• The Eagles have started ACC play by losing their first three games. The last two losses have come by an average of 2.5 points.
• BC defeated Harvard on Wednesday night in overtime, 64-57. It was the first win over the Crimson since 2005 (BC has lost six straight to Harvard).
• Virginia enters the weekend as one of two undefeated teams in the nation along with #1/1 Kentucky.
• The Cavaliers have the top ranked scoring defense in the country, allowing just 50.6 points per game.
• BC is 4-1 at home against UVa and 7-2 at Conte Forum this year.
BC GETS PAST HARVARD IN OVERTIME
• Junior Olivier Hanlan had game highs with 17 points and eight rebounds as Boston College beat Harvard in overtime, 64-57, on Wednesday night in Conte Forum.
• Senior Patrick Heckmann added 14 points, including nine in the overtime period.
• Junior Dennis Clifford recorded his first career double-double, going for 13 points and 10 rebounds.
• Graduate student Aaron Brown added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
• Boston College jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first 2:35 of the game. Brown hit a pair of 3-pointers to ignite the run.
• With the lead at 15-8, the Eagles went on a 10-2 run to make it a 25-10 advantage with 8:07 left in the half. Brown had matched Harvard as a team with 10 points for the first 12:04 of the game.
• BC kept the lead in double digits for the remainder of the half and took a 30-19 lead into the locker room.
• Harvard started the second half by scoring the first five points to make it a 30-24 game, but BC responded with five of its own to push the lead back to 11 points.
• The Crimson then went on a 15-4 run over a span of almost nine minutes to tie it up, 39-39, with 6:54 left. It was the first tie since 2-2.
• Harvard took its first lead of the game, 43-41, with an Evan Cummings dunk at the 5:23 mark.
• The teams traded buckets down to the end of regulation. Brown hit a layup with 19 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
• With Boston College holding a 56-54 lead in overtime, the Eagles went on a 6-1 run to take a 62-55 lead with 17 seconds left. Heckmann had five of the points in that span.
LAST SEASON AT VIRGINIA
• Ryan Anderson led the Eagles in points (20) and rebounds (7) as Boston College last at #20/21 Virginia, 77-67, on February 5, 2014 at John Paul Jones Arena.
• Lonnie Jackson tallied 12 points and Olivier Hanlan scored 14 points.
• Virginia made the first big run of the game by scoring 15 unanswered points over 6:42 to take a 20-5 lead at the 9:52 mark.
• With the Cavalier lead at 30-17, UVa closed out the first half on a 10-4 run to build a 40-21 advantage at the break.
• A 7-0 BC run cut the deficit to 47-33 at the 13:26 mark of the second half. Hanlan and Garland Owens hit a pair of 3-pointers in that span.
• UVa was up 71-52 with 4:47 left before BC cut the lead down to 73-67 with 39 seconds left - a 15-2 run.
• Brogdon hit two free throws and the Eagles did not convert on the next trip down the floor, which sealed the game.
DEFENSIVE FOCUS
• Boston College has allowed just 63.3 points per game this season through 15 games.
• Last year through 15 contests, the Eagles were giving up 76.2 points per game - a 12.9 point difference.
• BC has held six opponents to 60 points or less this year and is 4-2 in those outings. Last season, it held just one opponent (Division II Philadelphia University) to 60 points or less through 15 games.
• In addition, the 2014-15 Eagles have allowed just one opponent to score more than 80 points. Last year, five different teams reached that mark to this point.
