The Eagles were led by Kelly Hughes with 15 points and six boards, while junior Alexa Coulombe added eight points, three rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC had three steals and hit 4-of-8 from the floor in the first five minutes as four of five starters had a bucket - BC 8, UVA 8.
- Boudreau and Hughes hit runners to give BC a 12-8 with 11:58 to play in the half.
- The BC lead grew behind a three from Emilee Daley, BC 21, UVA 16, with 7:54 to play.
- UVA cut the lead to two on two straight three's with 4:18 to play. At that point, UVA was 7-for-11 (64%) from long range.
- UVA took a lead on their 8th three of the half, 31-29 with 2:30 to play. UVA took a four point lead on two foul shots from Mikayla Venson. BC's Emilee Daley hit two freebies to cut it to two points, 35-33, with 1:18 left. Faith Randolph would hit Cavs 10th three to go up, 38-33, at the half.
- Both teams came out cold in the second half and at the first media timeout BC was down, 41-37. Nine straight points by UVA pushed the Cavs up, 48-37, with 13:19 to play.
- With just seven minutes left, BC was down, 58-47, as UVA was on a 19-10 run. In that run, UVA hit three three's. The Cavaliers were 13-for-24 from the arc.
- A steal by Ashley Kelsick set up a long three by Hughes to cut the UVA lead, 61-54, with less than five to play.
- Sarah Imovbioh hit a traditional three-point play to push UVA's lead back to 10 points.
- The defense caused a number of chances but never cut into the Cavaliers lead.

- The Eagles next home game is on Sunday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. against Syracuse. Prior to the game, the program will host a Girls and Women in Sports Event. There will be skills and fitness stations conducted by BC athletes from the women's soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, fencing, rowing and volleyball teams. The skills and fitness stations will begin at 10:30 and run for one hour. The teams will then conduct an autograph session from 11:30-12:30 p.m. leading to the 1 p.m. tip-off between Boston College and Syracuse. Youths interested in attending can enter through Gate B of Conte Forum and must arrive before 10:15 a.m. to participate in the skills sessions. All youths accompanying adults will have free admission to the women's basketball game. Kids must be in eighth grade or younger.
