Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College freshman defenseman Megan Keller and senior defenseman Emily Pfalzer picked up Hockey East accolades on Monday, earning Rookie of the Week and Co-Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
In No. 1 BC’s 4-3 win over #4 BU on Jan. 7, Keller notched an assist on Tori Sullivan’s first period goal. Keller continued her offensive streak in the Eagles’ 7-3 victory at Northeastern on Jan. 10, tallying the eventual game-winning goal and adding two assists. The freshman defenseman completed her six-point week (2-4-6) with a goal and an assist in BC’s 9-1 triumph over the Huskies.
The Farmington Hills, Mich. native is ranked fifth in the nation in points per game by a defenseman (0.84) and third in the Hockey East in defenseman scoring behind teammates Emily Pfalzer and Lexi Bender. This is Keller’s first league accolade.
Pfalzer earns Co-Defenseman of the Week after her stellar play in the Eagles’ 4-3 victory against #4 BU. The senior defenseman assisted three out of four of BC’s goals, including Tori Sullivan’s third period game-winner. Pfalzer is second in the country in assists per game (1.39) behind teammate Alex Carpenter. This is Pfalzer’s second Hockey East weekly honor of the season.
