Women's T&F Competes at Yale Invitational

New Haven, Conn. – Boston College women’s track and field resumed action at its first meet of the new year, competing at the Yale University Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Senior captain Kathy O’Keefe won the 1000m, finishing in 2:53.56. With her 2:53.56 finish, O’Keefe qualifies to ECAC Championships. Sophomore Kristen Jordan finished closely behind for fifth place at 3:00.46.
Robin Gross finished fourth overall in the 400m at 58.29. Freshman Joanna Celli won her heat in the 400m with a time of 1:00.87, good for sixth place overall. Junior Jacqueline Hannon placed 13th at 1:02.82 and freshman Julia Douglas placed 21st with a time of 1:04.38.
Junior Carly Daniel finished fifth in the 500m at 1:17.77. Sophomore Camila Isern placed 11th, clocking a 1:19.73. Senior Elissa Knight ran a 1:25.18.
In the 800m, junior Ashlynn Fields was the first BC finisher at 2:21.68 in seventh place. Emma Sullivan (2:23.06), Christina Zelenoy (2:24.10), Marissa Horton (2:29.79), and KerryAnn Lawlor (2:41.06) also competed in the 800m.
In the 200m, junior Racquel MacDonald was the Eagles’ top finisher with a time of 27.78 in 33rd place. Behind MacDonald were freshman Christina Franciosi (27.89), freshman Julia Barron (27.94), and sophomore Gabriella Candelieri (28.00).
Two of the 4x400m relay teams placed in the top ten, with Christina Kyritsis, Shannon Ahern, Kathy O’Keefe, and Claudia DiSomma placing seventh at 4:03.21. Robin Gross, Camila Isern, Emma Sullivan, and Johanna Celli finished in eighth at 4:06.24.
The distance medley team (Claudia DiSomma, Carly Daniel, Shannon Ahern, and KerryAnn Lawlor) placed 6th at 12:22.76.
In the 60m hurdles, Julia Barron was the top Boston College finisher with a 9.61.
Freshman Anna Atkinson posted a 4.78m effort in the long jump, while junior Hannah Heider recorded a 4.30m.
In the shotput, freshman Chelsea Porcaro recorded a 9.83m while sophomore Fallyn Boich threw 9.80m.
