The Eagles' evening match vs. the host team Yale started with two Katty Workman kills and a pair of Brittany Pavich kills. Holding a 6-1 lead the Bulldogs, Yale grabbed four points in a row to get themselves back in the game.
Kellie Barnum dumped a ball over and Yale committed an attack error to give BC a 12-7 lead, forcing Yale's head coach to call her first time out of the match.
Out of the timeout BC continued to rally, doubling Yale's score at 14-7. Sol Calvete was active on the outside, receiving sets from Barnum and Anna Skold, putting away multiple balls on a tough Bulldog block. Through the middle of the first set the Eagles were hitting .389%.
Towards the end of the first set Topor and Skold both had a big blocks on the Bulldog's go-to hitter at separate times, giving the Eagles the final push they needed to close out the first set 25-13.
Set two started with a solid 3-0 lead from a determined BC team. Workman, a threat from the front row and back row, continued to take big swings and put the ball away whenever she had the opportunity.
The Eagles had obviously scouted the Bulldogs very well, getting their hands on the cross-court shots that Yale's main outside hitter favors heavily.
Towards the middle of set two Yale started firing away, earning a couple points on big kills, but the Eagles also continued to put balls away and were able to hold onto a lead for the entire set. Pavich was able to get around for a monster slide hit to put the Eagles up 18-11.
The Bulldogs picked up the energy and increased their score to 18 then 21, bringing the score within four and attempting to get themselves back into the game. Quick and consistent play from the Eagles proved to be too much for the reigning Ivy League champions, finishing set 2 with a 25-21 win.
After the ten minute break, BC came out with just as much power as they had brought to the previous two sets, but Yale was also energized. Big swings from Topor and Pavich gave the Eagles some of their first points in set three.
The Bulldogs were not prepared to back down in three sets, closing the gap at 8-7 and eventually tying it up at 10. The Eagles continued to rally thanks to accurate, aggressive swings from Workman, Skold and Barnum.
A strong showing from the Eagles gave them the 25-19 victory to finish a three game sweep over the hosting, Yale Bulldogs.
In their three game win the Eagles had 44 kills to a Bulldog 33 and hit an impressive .442% collectively. The Eagles fired off seven service aces, three from Calvete, two from Courtney Castle and one each from Skold and Franny Hock.
The Eagles' offense was lead by the efforts of Workman and Pavich. Workman had 12 kills and just one error, hitting .611% and Pavich tallied 11 kills and 1 error for a .714 hitting percentage. Calvete notched 8 kills and Topor and Skold both had five.
