Women's XC Takes First at Minuteman Invitational

Amherst, Mass. - The Boston College women's cross country team placed first at the Minutemen Invitation at UMass on Saturday, Sep. 13. The team had a low of 27 points in front of runner up Connecticut's 41. Ten Eagles finished in the top 25. All five scoring runners placed in the top ten at the meet.
The top five performers from BC were seniors Liv Westphal and Brittany Winslow, redshirt junior Danielle Winslow and freshmen Isabelle Kennedy and Ashbrook Gwinn.
Returning All-American Liv Westphal finished first overall with a time of 16:13.20, which was good for 44 seconds faster than last year's time. Westphal's time was 40 seconds faster than the next finisher.
Danielle Winslow finished third with a time of 16:58.50, a minute and a half faster than her time from last year's Minutemen Invitational.
Senior Brittany Winslow also improved on her 2013 time for the course as she finished at 17:22.70, good for sixth place.
The freshman class once again performed strongly. Isabelle Kennedy clocked a 17:38.40 compared to last week's 18:37.50 at Bryant University. Ashbrook Gwinn, in a standout first collegiate performance, finished alongside Kennedy for an eighth place tie.
Rounding out the Eagles that placed in the top 25 were freshman Laura Leff (17th), junior Maggie Mullins (19th), sophomore Megan Young (20th), and freshman Madeline Adams (21st).
The women's cross country team competes next at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday, Sep. 26.
