CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Four members of the Boston College women's lacrosse team were named to the 2014 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, including graduate student Sara Blue, seniors Moira Barry and Claire Blohm and junior Mikaela Rix, the league announced on Monday morning. In all, 34 student-athletes were tabbed All-ACC Academic Team members.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.
Barry was one of two women on the 2014 All-ACC Academic Team to have earned the honor all four years as a student-athlete, joining Duke's Taylor Virden.
The Framingham, Mass., native was Boston College's fourth-highest point scorer, totaling 46 points in 21 games played. The four-time All-ACC Academic member scored the fourth-most goals, finding the back of the net 39 times in 2014.
Blohm earned her third All-ACC Academic Team honor on Monday after serving as one of the Eagles' primary shutdown defenders. The Amityville, N.Y., native lead Boston College with 18 caused turnovers and gathered the second-most groundballs with 32. Blohm finished off her biology degree this spring.
Rix made her way onto the All-ACC Academic Team for the second time after a sterling junior season resulting in a team-high 57 goals along with 17 assists. The finance major also led BC with 39 groundballs and notched a team-best six goals at Notre Dame on Feb. 15.
Blue, who just recently complete her degree in administrative studies, is a first-time All-ACC Academic Team member. The Bethesda, Md., native finished fifth for BC in scoring with 30 goals and 13 assists in 21 outings this spring.
